Elizabeth Downs Preschool is a welcoming and vibrant environment, which caters for children from birth until beginning of school. Our preschool is inviting to children and their families, is enriched by diverse cultural influences, and is inclusive of all. We develop friendly and caring relationships between children and staff and with families. Family input and involvement is very much welcomed.
We provide a play-based curriculum using the Early Years Learning Framework. Play is the most powerful motivator of children’s active engagement in their learning environment. Through play, children are supported to be successful and to develop positive concepts of themselves as learners. We have an emergent curriculum, which means it is constantly evolving in response to children’s changing needs and interests, family interests and teachers’ priorities. We value the importance of the outdoors in helping children to appreciate and care for natural environments as well as providing a rich context for children to move, explore, experiment and be themselves.
Children begin Preschool based on their date of birth. Children born on or before the 30th of April begin Preschool at the start of that year and are eligible to receive 15 hours of Preschool a week. Children born on or after the 1st of May begin Preschool at the start of the following year. Aboriginal children upon turning 3 years of age are able to enrol for 12 hours per week.
Enrolment enquiries can be made at the School’s office or by ringing the school on 82552726.
